Valentines Day Surprise

She closed her eyes and leaned her head back on the headrest in her car. Her body was weary from the long day at work. It seemed nothing went right and it sent her already melancholy mood spiraling downward into a dark abyss of self pity. Tears began to well up behind her closed lids, the hot tingling in her chest made her suck in a deep breath to calm herself. No! She would not cry. Not today of all days would she sit in her car in the parking lot and cry. Opening her eyes she looked out over the parking lot, many of the cars had gone already since it was Valentines day. Couples were now out on the town or at home enjoying their love and enjoying being together and here she sat alone in her car. She needed to get a grip and stop mooning over him. He left you. He wanted someone else. He did not want you.

"His fucking loss." she said softly to herself.

With a quick glance into her mirror she turned the car on and backed out of the space. Time to go home, heat a cup o noodles and watch some movie with her cat.
The heat filled her eyes again but with a growl she slammed the car into gear and shot forward with a chirp of tires.

Parking the car in the garage she sat a moment staring at nothing, letting her mind wander a moment where it should not. With a growl she shut the memories off and grabbed her backpack from the seat beside her. Slamming the door to the car she noticed it did not take her as long to get home as it normally did. A good thing, she mused.
She pushed the door from the garage into the house open and stopped short as she looked at the pile of red rose petals on the floor. Beside the small pile was a hand written note that said, Follow the roses to an adventure.
Her eyes lifted to see a single trail of red rose petals that went down the hall and disappeared from view around the corner. Who the fuck is in my house she thought with a small stab of fear but then the tempo shifted. Her heart started to pound but not in fear but in anticipation. She had learned a long time ago not to expect anything from him as his nature seemed flighty and secretive. She felt as if she was going to faint because she knew he had this sort of romantic streak in him but she had only seen it once and it was a time to remember.
With a deep breath she stabbed the garage door opener to close down, set her back back and purse down beside a bookcase and followed the trail of petals around the corner to the closed door of her bedroom. She stood there a moment, heart pounding and a very scared feeling in the pit of her stomach. She needed to get a grip because if it was him she may just dissolve into tears and she needed to be strong. Keep those emotions under control girl, under control.
She reached out, turned the door knob and pushed the door open to see a fantasy wonderland in her bedroom.

Stepping into the room she saw rose petals all over the bed, candles lit all over the room emitting a sweet scent and vases of red roses all over the room. On one night stand was a bottle of wine in a bucket chilling with two glasses beside it. She did not see anyone in the room but her gaze shifted to the bathroom door as it swung open slowly. Out he stepped and her heart literally stopped beating for a moment as she looked into his eyes. Those dark, sensual eyes that seemed to pierce every wall she had ever built up and looked into her soul.

"Oh my. What....this is..." she looked around, sweeping an arm to indicate the room. "..it is amazing."

He walked towards her smiling gently but with a wariness in his eyes. She knew where that came from and she remembered their final fight months ago where they went their separate ways. It was heartbreaking for them both but it had to happen for it was not their time yet. Her heart almost stopped as time slowed and that realization slammed into her brain. It was not their time yet. She knew they were meant to be, they complimented one another, challenged one another and their love making was epic. Now was their time. Now was when they would be as one.

"Happy Valentines day love." He moved closer and she watched him with tears streaming down her face.
His fingertips brushed the tears away as he stepped close.
"Shhh my love. I am here. I am sorry for all that has happened. I love you so very much. This..." he swept his arm around to indicate the room. "..is one apology for what has gone before. And to begin a new together."

"I love you." she whispered as her hands lifted to cup his cheeks. She gazed into his eyes allowing all her emotions to shine forth. She watched his smile widen and his eyes fill with tears.
Her lips pressed to his gently and she felt his arms slide around her waist, hauling her up against his body hard. His tongue slipped between her lips and she moaned softly, arms winding around his neck and she molded her body to his.

Life was good and she knew tonight would be one of passion and love.

Happy Valentines Day.
